ANAKBAYAN (“Sons and Daughters of the People”) is a comprehensive national democratic youth and student organization. ANAKBAYAN upholds the interests and demands of the Filipino youth and the people by educating, organizing, and mobilizing them to fight for education, employment, land, democratic rights, and social services for Filipinos here in the U.S. and the Philippines. ANAKBAYAN believes youth are agents of social change and thus aims to build unity among Filipino youth of all backgrounds — immigrant, US-born/raised, student, working, LGBT, women, artists, etc — to create systemic change. ANAKBAYAN East Bay, Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, San Diego, and Seattle are chapters of ANAKBAYAN-Philippines and member organizations of BAYAN USA.

GABRIELA Los Angeles
GABRIELA stands for General Assembly Binding Women for Reforms, Integrity, Education, Leadership, and Action. GABRIELA is a grassroots-based alliance of more than 200 women’s organizations, institutions, desks, and programs. It was founded in the Philippines in 1984 and named after Gabriela Silang, the first Filipino woman to lead a revolt against the Spanish colonization of the Philippines. We educate, organize, and mobilize Filipino women to fight for their rights & welfare through collective action. GABRIELA USA is the first overseas chapter including member organizations in Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, San Francisco, and Washington DC.
